Mareecha in Ramayana:
- Mareecha is a Rakshasa in Ramayana the brother of Subahu, son of Thataka. He drinks wine and blood every day.
- He is god fearing, obedient and realizes that Rama is extremely powerful, as Rama kills Thataka.
- Ravana calls Mareecha and asks him to confuse Rama in the disguise of a deer, so that Ravana can abduct Sita.
- Mareecha warns Ravana but Ravana does not heed.
- “Ramo Vigrahavan Dharmaha” – was said by Mareecha. If Mareecha did not obey Ravana – Ramayana could have ended without the abduction of Sita – the greater good would not have happened like killing of Ravana. The story extended.
- As Mareecha is obedient, he had to go and do this work.
- Though, there are many people who could do this work, Mareecha luckily gets this chance to see Rama & Sita.
- He disguises in the form a golden deer and Rama and Sita are amazed by its brightness and they will run behind the deer.
- Rama runs further leaving Sita, as she gets kidnapped by Ravana.
- Mareecha is killed by Rama and will die in the lap of Rama.
Brahma and Rudra
- Brahma had to run behind Saraswati for procreation and populating different species on the earth.
- Viswedevas were in an illusion and thought this was wrong then.
- They used the Brahma’s power and created Rudra.
- They asked Rudra to stop Brahma.
- Rudra in anger, severed one of the five heads (the head that was looking upwards) using a bow and arrow.
- This head is one of the heads in the kapala mala of the Rudra.
- Viswedevas later realize that they have done a mistake.
- Rudra has got Brahma-Hatya Pataka.
Moon:
- Soma is often used interchangeably between nectar and wine.
- Moon waxes and wanes. Sometimes very bright and sometimes not there.
Deers:
- Mriga is deer and Sira is head.
- They live only in herds. They are very afraid to travel alone anywhere.
- They do not take new routes. Hunters find a deer easily based on footmarks, because they take the same route daily.
- Even when they drink water – they are very afraid and keep looking around in intervals. (Mriga-Sira).
- They lead the herd well.
- They are often found searching something in the grass.
Parvati:
- Daksha is Rohini and Parvati is Mrigasira. Rudra (Shiva) is Arudra.
- When Shiva and Parvati were in ekanta seva, afraid devatas spoiled their union.
- Parvati took a vow, they will not have children together and cursed all the devatas to not have any children.
- “Siva Rudrasya Bheshaji, Rudra Shivasya Bhesaji” – as per Rudram. Parvati is the only power that can alter Shiva to Rudra and vice versa.
