- Nakshatra Deity: Bhaga (A brother of Aryaman, gives you financial support like inheritance to run the family. Bhaga denotes wealth and prosperity.)

- Nick Name: Star of Patronage, The latter Fig Tree or The latter Reddish one.

- Foundation Below: Wealth obtained from partner’s family.
- Shakti (Power): Chayani Shakti (Power of prosperity, wealth and accumulation through business partnerships or marriage) .

- Puranic Stories:
- Sri Krishna, the charioteer of Phalguna
- Bharata-rsabha, the bull of Mahabharata.
- Yagna – the holy fire. Purva Phalguni as base and Uttara as the top.
- Uttara, the wife of Abhimanyu – mother of Parikshit. Parikshit has seen Vishnu in the womb.
Sri Krishna the charioteer of Phalguna:
- Duryodhana (Makha) and Arjuna (Phalgunis) visited Krishna to seek help in Kurukshetra (war).
- Krishna was asleep on a bed then, while Duryodhana came early and sat on the couch, placed near the front legs of the bed.
- Arjuna came later, and sat on the couch, placed at the feet (hind legs of the cot) of Krishna.
- Krishna woke up and saw Arjuna first. Duryodhana debated with Krishna saying that he came first and Krishna shall listen to him first.
- Krishna puts all his army on to one side and places himself alone on the other side. He also says that he will be a charioteer and will not fight anyone in the war.
- Arjuna will be given the option first however, Arjuna picks up Krishna alone. Duryodhana is also happy to receive such a huge army to fight on his side.
Bharat-Rshaba
- Often referred to the prince, who will ascend to the throne shortly.
- Dritharashtra called Duryodhana as Bharat-Rshaba
- Duryodhana called back Dhritarashtra as Bharat-Rshaba.
This indicates one who is a prince now – endowed with riches and will be a king soon with god’s grace. However, Rshaba would mean fertility – having children (sons) and prosperity.
Yagna
- Purva Phalguni is the base of the Yagna
- Uttara Phalguni is at the top of the Yagna.
- At the base, there are Samidhas (fire wood), fuel etc., that are are sacrificed / burnt in the Yagna.
- At the top is there is the flame, the end result which the Yagna – Phalam.
Again prosperity is indicated in Uttara, while Purva Phalguni will mean working without looking at the fruits.
Daksha Yagna
- Daksha (Rohini) did not invite Rudra (his own son-in-law for the Daksha Yagna.
- However, Sati (Mrigasira) went there and suffered insults in the hands of Daksha and family.
- On Sati’s sacrifice and jumping into Yagna Kunda, Rudra (Ardra) got furious.
- He sent VeeraBhadra (a form of Rudra, PurvaBhadrapada) to destroy the Daksha Yagna.
- In the fury, VeeraBhadra started harming anyone who he saw was in support of the Daksha Yagna.
- In the process, the following damage happened.
- He plucked out the eyes of Bhaga (Phalgunis), as he saw the offerings given in the Yagna.
- He has cut the arms of Hasta (Hasta), as he has extended his arms to receive the alms (Havis) of Yagna.
- He has knocked out the teeth of Pushan (Revati), as he has chewed the alms (Havis).
- He has plucked the beard of Bhrigu (Venus), since he was ready to stand up to receive the alms.

Bhagasya = This Bhaga is a brother of Aryaman, who grants rewards for taking responsibilities. Rewards are usually in the form of inheritance or good prosperity.
Uttare: the star Uttara Phalguni; Phalguna is Arjuna, Uttara means after. The clear mindset of Arjuna after listening to Bhagavadgita.
Vahatavaha: who takes responsibility of parents also, even if he is a younger child. May fight with parents but will never leave them unattended.
The symbol male cow (Bull) takes the responsibility of everyone in the family by providing them necessary money and physical labor (help). The same is the native.
Vahamaana: Fertility and Prosperity. Vaham also means Vayu, the wind god. Wind is the most powerful of all. Arjuna did his part and handed it over to Bhima (Vayu) to complete the war. Bhima completed the war by killing Duryodhana.
Swati (Vayu) is Bhima predominantly, while Arudra and Punarvasu also are Vayu oriented. So, this nakshatra works along with these nakshatras.
- Getting inheritance / prosperity by middle age-old age.
- Will take the responsibility of parents, even though he is a younger child.
- Sometimes, takes care of those responsibilities as well, which native’s parents have to complete for their other children.
- They help everyone in the family and fraternity to come up in life, like an ox.
- Lot of good things happen, like Arjuna (Phalguna) has won the war and got the kingdom for his elder brother.
- During Daksha Yagna, Bhaga was the priest and seen the Prasad offered to the Yagna. Furious Veerabhadra (Shiva’s creation) has plucked out the eyes of Bhaga. So, bhaga can cause blindness due to removal of eyeballs. 8 / 2 connections and afflictions are mandatory here.
Bed: Royal bed is a symbol of Arjuna taking a sleep after winning the battle for Dharma Raja. He is mature now and has a kingdom to his name. He has all the comforts and royalty.
Male Cow (Bull): Bull is a symbol of prosperity. Bull the young one, used for mating cows, in agriculture, transport in olden days.
Palash Tree: The flame of the Forest (as nicknamed), is used in Yagnas as samidhas. It represents purity, strength and transformative power of the fire. This nakshatras transforms life by usually providing riches for the work done in the past (or in the previous life).
Rahu rules Aquarius, so Ketu rules Leo, being in 7th from Aquarius.
